The opportunity for an extraordinary meeting – a performance with live music, will be the latest book by KATARZYNA JACKOWSKA – ENEMUO with illustrations by NIKA JAWOROWSKA – DUCHLIŃSKA.
The meeting will be full of colorful stories, music performed by Katarzyna (singing, accordion, ngoni, daf) and Michał Szemraj (rubab, cymbals, oud) and interesting conversations with the Artists.
Between Earth and Heaven, fire burns, rivers roll their waters, clouds bring coolness and rain, and the wind howls and sings. Between Earth and Heaven, people experience everything that is most wonderful and amazing. Between Earth and Heaven, the world and life happen. And the world around us is alive, breathing, and we are an inseparable part of it. Especially in the language of fairy tales and music, it is good to tell about it. That is why we invite you to an evening of stories, during which we will meet people and elements. We will tell and sing about Karst and forty-four unruly winds-urwipołcies. About Obyrtek, who wanted to command the earth. And about what the Moon taught people… Each of these stories is a story about us – people in the world, saturated with elements of old beliefs and lively music.
These fairy tales make up the latest book by Katarzyna Jackowska-Enemuo BETWEEN EARTH AND HEAVEN. These are stories that can be easily read to children, but are completely for adults.
KATARZYNA JACKOWSKA-ENEMUO – a cultural anthropologist graduated from the Jagiellonian University, musician, storyteller, composer and writer. For over twenty years she has been involved in early and traditional music from various parts of Europe, but she also composes her own songs, as well as music for theatre performances. Author of radio broadcasts and radio plays. Co-founder of the Jazgodki band and the Migawki Project, which creates performances in two Polish languages – spoken and sign language.
She gives concerts, plays for dancing, tells stories and performs performances – both on stage and in backyards, prisons and trains. She runs singing, dancing and storytelling workshops for both adults and children. She tracks the traditions of social celebration.
Her book “Tkaczka Chmur” (published by Albus, 2021; illustrations: Marianna Sztyma) was awarded in the Lokomotywa bloggers’ plebiscite and won the Literary Award of the Capital City of Warsaw. It has been adapted for theatre in Poland and the Czech Republic. Her second book, “Między Światem a Zaświatem” (published by Albus; illustrations: Nika Jaworowska-Duchlińska), is the winner of the Lokomotywa plebiscite in 2023, in the “From A to Z” category. Her third collection of fairy tales has now been published, entitled: “Między Ziemią a Niebem” (published by Albus, illustrations: Nika Jaworowska-Duchlińska).
