Night of Libraries at the Municipal Public Library in Morąg

October has arrived, and that means only one thing – it’s time for another Night of Libraries at the Municipal Public Library in Morąg! This year, we’re having fun under the slogan “Night of Libraries with… mythology”, and on Friday, October 11, for three hours, our library will become a veritable cradle of gods – from Greece, through Rome, to Asgard itself. Are you curious about what awaits you? Here are just some of the attractions we’ve planned:
The Adult Section will invite you to play in the Slavic EscapeRoom “One, two, three, Baba Jaga is watching”, as well as to meet a real Whisperer. You’ll also be able to taste delicacies from a truly homely table, drink herbal infusions from herbalist Magdalena Mudra, and learn how to weave Kupala Night wreaths.
The Youth Section will transform into Olympus itself and offer participants the opportunity to decorate bookmarks and key rings with Ariadne’s Thread, test their strength in board games, test their skills in VR goggles and duel of Robo-Sisyphus.
In the Collection Section you will cross the rainbow bridge straight to Nordic Asgard, where Mr. Adam Pyjor will be waiting for you with workshops on creating comics and painting figurines (advance registration is required for both events).
The Library’s Children’s Department will become the legendary Atlantis, hidden in the depths of the sea, where guests will be treated to Dionysian tattoos and face painting, “Poseidon’s Bubble Variations”, a special Atomic Kids show, and taming the Kraken with Montownia. As every year, we encourage you to come to the event in costume – choose your favorite mythological character and show us your creativity. Additionally, you can take part in a competition for the king and queen of Atlantis, the best dressed participants of the Night of the Library!
For the real daredevils, Camp of Heroes, straight from the Percy Jackson books, awaits! Test your divine talents by trying to glue the eye of the Cyclops, shooting Achilles’ heel, throwing a discus like Hercules himself, and test your strength in a duel with Hermes and his magic tricks.
Looking for silence in this chaos, don’t forget to visit a place that is usually inaccessible to ordinary mortals… that is, readers! For this special night, our library basement will transform into the Egyptian land of the afterlife, the Duat, where you will find a corner for painting pebbles for Osiris himself and a zone where you will listen to fascinating stories about the adventures of heroes known from mythology.
But that’s not the end of the attractions – during the event, true experts will be able to take part in three mini-quizzes on mythology and one awesome quiz conducted in the Kahoot application! Attractive prizes await those who win the competitions.
In addition, throughout the event, a 360 photo booth will be waiting for you, thanks to which you will be able to capture your memories of this unique event!
At the end of the event, we have prepared something special for you – a real illusion show led by magician Rafał Kotlewski. Believe us – it’s worth staying with us until the very end!
As usual, for participating in the attractions we have prepared, you will receive special scratch cards from the hosts, which will give you a chance to win gadgets and sweet gifts from our “U Bachusa” shop in the library lobby.
