Cittaslow communes active in activities for clean air

The Cittaslow idea aims to improve living conditions in small towns by implementing activities for society and the environment and maintaining the unique character of cities, including: by caring for their heritage and cultural identity. The cities associated in the Network – there are 26 of them in our voivodeship – strive for sustainable development, i.e. conscious urban policy ensuring appropriate relationships between economic growth, care for the environment and improving the quality of life of residents. A concrete manifestation of such activities is active involvement in the implementation of the “Clean Air” program. Under this program, it is possible to obtain partial support for the thermal modernization of residential buildings or the replacement of the so-called Cinderellas. The Ministry of Climate and Environment has published a ranking of local governments that will most effectively motivate their residents to improve the energy efficiency of their homes by replacing outdated boilers burning coal and other solid fuels with ecological heat sources and comprehensive insulation of single-family buildings – using subsidies from the “Clean Air” program. It indicates 625 communes that have an involvement index above 3.70% /the index determines the % share of single-family buildings in the program/.
