Exhibition of illustrations by Wanda and Bogusław Orliński at the Orangery of Culture

FAIRYTALE, FAIRYTALE-LIKE, BEAUTIFUL AND COLORFUL – this is exactly what happens at the exhibition of illustrations FAIRYTALE WORLDS OF WANDA AND BOGUSŁAW ORLIŃSKIS, to the opening of which we cordially invite you on 10, 11 and 12.09 at 10:00 and 11:30, exhibited as part of the 5th edition of the Festival of Books and Illustrations for Big and Small INSERTING BETWEEN FAIRYTALES in the Orangery of Culture in Lidzbark Warmiński. The exhibition shows over 100 original works by the Artists, acquired thanks to the courtesy of their Daughter – Zuzanna Orlińska. You can see illustrations for children’s books that many people remember from their childhood – including books from the unforgettable series POCZYTAJ MI MOM, but also collections of fairy tales and legends, books by excellent authors – including Hans Christian Andersen, Maria Kownacka, Dorota Gellner, Czesław Janczarski and Wanda Chotomska.
The Orlińskis’ illustrations sparkle with humor and color, the worlds presented in them combine real and fantastic elements. In the field of illustrations, the Orlińskis have achieved true mastery and their works emanate warmth and extraordinary finesse of execution.
Their art gives the opportunity and pleasure of enjoying a wonderful, cheerful atmosphere as well as the ordinary and fairy-tale life led by their characters.

The exhibition will be accompanied by EDUCATIONAL CLASSES, which will be held from 13.09.2024 to 11.10.2024 after prior arrangement of the date.

WANDA ORLIŃSKA (1942-2017) graduated from the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. In 1967, she received a diploma with distinction from the studio of prof. Jan Marcin Szancer. She worked in painting and graphics. She illustrated dozens of books for children and young people, as well as magazines and school textbooks. Her works can be found in books by many famous writers and poets, including Wiera Badalska, Konstanty Ildefons Gałczyński, Małgorzata Musierowicz, Zofia Beszczyńska, Joanna Chmielewska, Danuta Wawiłow. She took part in numerous exhibitions in Poland, as well as in Berlin, Stuttgart, Bratislava, Belgrade and London.

BOGUSŁAW ORLIŃSKI (1941-2022) graduated from the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. In 1967, she received a diploma with distinction from the studio of prof. Artur Nacht-Samborski. He created in the field of illustration, graphics and easel painting, for many years he was a graphic editor at the Nasza Księgarnia publishing house. He is the author of illustrations for over a hundred books for children and young people. He has represented Poland many times at the most important international illustration reviews, including the Illustration Biennale in Bratislava and the International Children’s Book Fair in Bologna, as well as in Hamburg, Berlin, Leipzig, Düsseldorf, London, Tokyo, Prague, Rio de Janeiro.
