JAZZ! OH! GOSH! – Jezioran Jazz Autumn

16 Sep 2024

On 12-13.10.2024 we invite all music lovers to Jeziorany in Warmia for three jazz concerts in a former evangelical church. The first (on Saturday) to perform for you will be Mietek Szcześniak and Joanna Gajda Quartet with the program “Jazz for kids”. It will be an extraordinary concert with the participation of children from Jeziorany, who have been preparing for the performance since July at special jazz workshops. The “Jazz for Kids” project was created to familiarize the youngest listeners with a genre of music usually addressed to older recipients. It is commonly believed that jazz is not easy to listen to, and therefore not suitable for immature ears. Is this true? It turns out that it is not necessarily so. It is enough to tell it in a language that children understand! Mietek Szcześniak and Joanna Gajda undertook such a task, preparing a joint program of jazz standards of compositions by Herbie Hancock, Charlie Parker and John Coltrane. Each of them was provided with a Polish text especially for this occasion, dealing with children’s issues.

On the same day, the second evening concert of the Andrzej Jagodziński Trio will take place, presenting pieces from the most important musical projects implemented by the artist over the course of 30 years of activity (anniversary in 2023), including F. Chopin, J.S. Bach, K. Komeda. Andrzej Jagodziński has been arranging F. Chopin’s pieces for years – the result of this original idea are albums that have achieved artistic and commercial success: “Chopin”, “Chopin Once More”, “Les Brillantes”, “Sonata B flat minor”. The leader of the Trio independently selects and arranges the repertoire for albums, including “Krzysztof Komeda from the series Great Film Composers”. During Sunday’s concert, the Latin trio of Marcin Masecki will perform. The artists will present the repertoire from the band’s latest project entitled “Boleros y Más”, dedicated to Latin American music, with which Masecki is connected, among others, through his childhood spent in Colombia. In the space of the former evangelical church, Marcin Masecki will play the piano and sing in Spanish. You will hear, among others, boleros, waltzes, chora and tangos, as well as Masecki’s own compositions inspired by salsa, samba and rumba.
