National Art Competition – PAINTED WITH WORDS

The Municipal Pedagogical Library – Orangery of Culture and the Women’s Association “Miej Marzenia” cordially invite lovers of words and images to participate in the jubilee 10th edition of the National Art Competition SŁOWEM MALOWANE – Ignacy Krasicki 2024.
In 2024, to emphasize the jubilee edition, the competition was announced under the slogan of the work of Ignacy Krasicki – an outstanding resident of Lidzbark Warmiński.
For a decade, the organizers have been inspiring the Participants of the Competition with SŁOWEM WORD to create a unique IMAGE that will show their exceptional creative potential! For 10 years now, they have been tirelessly popularizing valuable literary texts and beautiful book illustrations, appreciating the national artistic legacy. In choosing poets and writers of the competitions, they focus on the classics of Polish literature. Previous editions have illustrated works by, among others, Julian Tuwim, Konstanty Ildefons Gałczyński, Wanda Chotomska, Jan Brzechwa, Maria Konopnicka and Joanna Papuzińska. Paintings were also made on the occasion of anniversaries: the 100th anniversary of Independent Poland and the 550th birthday of the great astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus.
Krasicki’s work – a poet, comedy writer, translator, encyclopedist is widely known and has timeless value. Numerous maxims, such as Poczciwość prawdy nie stracha or Umiej być przyjaciele, you will find a friend despite the passage of time remain relevant, without losing their meaning. Krasicki is a master of anecdotes and comedy scenes, he appreciated the importance of laughter, as evidenced by his saying And laughter can sometimes be a lesson.
The works will be assessed by a competition committee appointed by the organizers, which will select the winners in 6 categories: kindergartens, grades I-III, grades IV-VIII, secondary schools, art high schools, pupils of special schools and institutions. The opening of the final exhibition of competition works and the honoring of the winners – the awarding of prizes and distinctions will take place in the historic summer pavilion of the Warmian bishops – the seat of the Municipal Pedagogical Library in Lidzbark Warmiński.
