On the Borders of the Human World. Magical Creatures from Warmia and Masuria Fairy Tales

We invite you to the opening of the exhibition ON THE FRINGES OF THE HUMAN WORLD. MAGICAL BEINGS FROM WARMIAN AND MASURIAN FAIRY TALES 30.04.2025 – Wednesday – 13:00.
The exhibition is the result of cooperation between the publishers of the Made In Warmia & Mazury magazine, the State Archive in Olsztyn and the “We Are Together” Association in Górowo Iławeckie. The patron of the presentation is Jacek Gosk – an entrepreneur, regionalist, social activist, lover of Warmia and Mazury.
The Legends of Warmia and Mazury series is a nod to forgotten, and often even unknown, stories about the region, about the customs of people who lived here before, about magical beings, places and events recorded, among others, by by Karol Małłek, Maria Zientara-Malewska, Jadwiga
Tressenberg: “About the Priceless Vase”, “The Tale of the Wise Cancer”, “About the Boy Who Cheated the Devil”, “How Wild Strawberries Came to Be in the Warmia Forests”, “The Heart of the Rose”. Captured in unique photographs, created for the needs of the project, they will certainly delight contemporary recipients. The photo session illustrating the “Fairy Tale of the Priceless Vase” took place, among others, in the Orangery of Culture.
The exhibition “Legends of Warmia and Mazury” is an initiative aimed at introducing viewers to the rich history and traditions of our region and at the same time providing an opportunity to provide information about the land of Smętek and Kłobuk in an accessible way.
After exhibitions in the Warmia-Masuria Voivodeship Office in Olsztyn, the Public Library in Gołdap, the Cultural Mill in Budry, the Voivodeship Rehabilitation Hospital in Górowo Iławeckie, the Multimedia Centre for Sailing and Ecology “Memuak” in Sztynort, the Łękuk Farm in Łękuk Mały, the Communal Cultural Centre in Pozezdrze, the exhibition has arrived in Lidzbark Warmiński thanks to the MIEJ DREAM Women’s Association and the Municipal Pedagogical Library.
