Cittaslow: Freedom from Pursuit Week in Polish Cities

Every year in September, Polish cities associated in the international Cittaslow network prepare for a unique celebration. Cittaslow Week is a unique opportunity to discover and celebrate slow living. A rich program of events has been prepared, including fairs, cultural events, recreational activities and sports competitions.
It is also a perfect time to promote local production, crafts, education, artistic creation, culinary art and active recreation. Regardless of your age, you will find something that will interest you and, above all, you will have great fun!
Cittaslow Sunday, which falls on September 24 in 2023, is the culmination of this special week. During this day, you will find numerous attractions and interesting events for adults and children.
Below you will find some of all the events:
1. Lidzbark Warmiński: on Cittaslow Sunday there will be exciting cyclocross bicycle races, colorful animations for children and touching artistic performances.
2. Braniewo: Cittaslow bicycle rally.
3. Gołdap: ONE HIT WONDER performance prepared by Teatr Ognia FLASH ZONE.
4. Lidzbark: Cittaslow Saturday will pass in a truly sporty style. Municipal Tournament, team anniversary – LKS WEL Lidzbark. Concerts that will guarantee a powerful musical experience. An online knowledge quiz, games for children, sports competitions and all these attractions will be accompanied by delicious local food prepared by KGW from the Lidzbark commune.
5. Jeziorany: in the former evangelical church in Jeziorany (currently the church of Saint Jadwiga) there will be a chamber concert of Icelandic music entitled “When the Ice Heart Beats.”
6. Morąg: 10th Provincial English Song Festival, during which vocal talents from the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship will be presented, and the Municipal Public Library in Morąg will invite you to participate in a mobile city game titled “Ancient heritage – read, think, have fun with the library!” .
7. Prudnik: 12th Prudnik Senior Rally – a family event during which you will be able to take part in sports games and competitions with prizes.
8. Szczytno: on Sunday, the snail will hand out books, invite you to take part in an outdoor game, and you will also be able to take part in games, activities and competitions in a knightly atmosphere, all accompanied by the music of the Mazury band.
9. Węgorzewo: on Cittaslow Sunday there will be cross-country bike races, animations for children and artistic performances. Dance groups will also perform on stage, and local non-governmental organizations will prepare regional food.
10. Ryn: shooting competition, magical jazz concert, snail search, exciting board game tournament.
11. Biskupiec: Review of Folk Bands and Groups in the Cittaslow Spirit, National Reading, an intense handball match, an unforgettable music concert, a relaxing cinema evening, an inspiring meeting in the library, an exciting bicycle rally.
12. Lubawa: Regional Apple Festival, charity event, musical presentations, master cooking, culinary competitions for children, fascinating exhibitions, appetizing tastings and joyful games for children.
This is just a fragment of the Cittaslow Week program, which attracts residents and tourists from all over the country. Anyone who wants to experience slow life, local culture and traditions and enjoy regional delicacies will find something interesting in these events. Some of them may require advance registration, so it is worth being prepared and booking your place for this special week full of freedom from the rush of everyday life.
