Congress of Local Governments under the slogan “The future of the idea of decentralization in a changing world”

The 9th European Congress of Local Governments is the largest and most important meeting in Poland of local government leaders, representatives of regional elites, business, members of state administration, non-governmental organizations and the media. The organizers intend the event to become a platform for exchanging good practices, as well as building and deepening cooperation between local governments and key stakeholders from their environment, from Poland and Central and Eastern European countries.

The program of the 9th European Congress of Local Governments includes over 200 events: program blocks, discussion panels, workshops, lectures and presentations. The Congress debates will cover, among others, areas such as: management of local government units, mechanisms of city and regional development, investment financing, environmental protection and health policy. The Congress program will be implemented within fifteen thematic paths, such as: Economy, Business and Management, Society, Finance, Sustainable Development, Interregional Cooperation, Regional Culture Forum, Tourism Industry Exhibition, and Health.

The 9th European Congress of Local Governments is not only debates on socio-economic issues, but also a rich cultural and recreational program, including workshops, meetings with book authors, and presentations of the region’s tourist attractions. The main partner of the event is the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship.

The previous edition of the Congress was attended by over 2,000 participants from Poland and 33 other countries. The largest group were Polish local government officials, numbering over 600. The expected attendance at this year’s event is over 2,500 participants. All participants of the 9th European Congress of Local Governments gain a unique opportunity to exchange views, build relationships, establish contacts and develop various forms of cooperation, including business, at the regional level and with partners from other countries.

The organizer of the 9th European Congress of Local Governments is the Institute of Eastern Studies Foundation, which promotes dialogue and cooperation between the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. The most important event organized by the Foundation is the Economic Forum in Karpacz – a conference that is one of the largest and most important economic and political events in Europe.
